Marieke van Uden (modern dance)

Marieke van Uden (21) is studying modern dance at the Amsterdam University of Arts (3rd year). At this study concentrates on both creative subjects like drama, improvisation, and creating new work, as well as dance technique. Marieke has participated the Bodytorium dance company under the direction of the Japanse cheographer Shûsaku Takeuchi. During the next year, she will work as a stagaire with Frank Händler & Diane Elhoud, Beppie Blankert and Magpie (an improvisation group with Katie Duck as the artistic director)..

Summary of his 12xHolland plans

  • founding a dance workshop group: “12xHolland Dance Group ”. In her workshop she will introduce modern and creative dance. She will also create a choreagraphy and study it with the group, which they will perform at the Haiya Festival (09/23) as well as the 12xHolland Dans Presentation (09/29).
  • school workshops modern dance
  • dance and movement: dance workshops for mental handicapped and elder people.
  • on 09/29 there will be a final 12xHolland Dance Presentation, with a.o. Marieke’s solo dance, the 12xHolland Dance Group, Marieke’s Nichibu presentation (Japanese dance) and possibly other groups and performers.
  • taking lessons in Nichibu (Japanese dance) with a dancer in Hirado.
