Stephan Peters (portait painting)



Stephan W.F. Peters (32) is visual artist. In 1993 he finished his education at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. He now makes paintings, does performance-art, installations and other art forms. In 1990 he worked on two ceiling paintings in Huis Ten Bosch (Nagasaki, Japan). At the moment he teaches among others drawing from a model, and he creates wall paintings. In his work he is fascinated by the Dutch culture for cosiness, and also by spirituality and Buddhism. Stephan is married and has a son and daughter.

Summary of his 12xHolland activities:

  • painting the portraits of several shopkeepers in Hirado. These portraits will be exhibited in their own shop or shop-window.
  • will give the lecture ‘Dutch people as seen by Japanese people’.
  • at several schools he will give the course ‘Portrait painting’.
  • workshop ‘drawing’ for children and adults.
  • he will take shodo lessons (Japanese calligraphy) in Hirado.
