Marjolijn van Roon (recorder)



Marjolijn van Roon (45) is a recorder player. She has studied recorder, among others at the conservatory of Utrecht (with teacher Marion Verbrugge), and musicology specializing in old music and ethnomusicology ("cum laude" certificate in 1993). She is now teaching recorder as main subject at the conservatory in Enschede, and she also teaches masterclasses in European and other countries. She has given many concerts in Holland and abroad, with both old music (with ensembles like Barok Ad Hoc and Mirac) and also with contemporary music (both as solo performer and with for instance the Ensemble Reflex). Her most recent CD includes old music: ‘Grace & Gestures: Bach and Before’. The CD ‘Silk’ that is about to be released includes modern and old music, connected to a series of poems, especially Japanese haiku’s.
