Lucienne van der Mijle (49) is photographer. After a career as modern dancer (with, among others, an education at the Theatre School Amsterdam, 1973-1979) and many dance productions she got focussed on photography. She studied at the Foto Academie Amsterdam (1994-1998). She now works by order for several businesses (among them Rabo Bank and Het Muziektheater), and for theatre companies (like the Japanese percussion group Wadaiko Yamato, and the National Ballet).

Summary of her 12xHolland activities:

• making a photo series of the daily life of (three) fisher families from Hirado. (Here they are fishing for the so called flying ‘Ago’ fish.) This report will be part of het social photo document which will show – next to the pictures from Hirado – similar images from Vlissingen.
• outdoor activity in Harbour Park: taking pictures of children from Hirado who will be dressed up with attributes like old hats, a Spanish collar (ruff) etcetera.
• outdoor exhibition in Harbour Park of her photographs from both Vlissingen and Hirado.
• organize a workshop photography for beginners; the topic will be ‘Historic Hirado’, followed by a photo competition.
• lecture with slides at several schools.
• she will take shodo lessons (Japanese calligraphy) in Hirado.
