Erik van Ommen (43) is visual artist and bird-watcher. He studied at the Academie Beeldende Kunsten Minerva in Groningen (1978-1983). Main subjects: free-hand painting and graphics. He makes oil paintings, water colours, etchings and drawings of objects which feature nature, with a strong preference for birds. He also develops and programmes websites and interactive CD Roms. Erik works part-time as a graphic designer and desktop publisher. He had exhibitions in countries like Holland, Great-Britain, Sweden, Germany, and the United States; he published many books with paintings and etchings of birds. Some of this book titles are: Texel, De Hoge Berg en het Lage Land (Texel, The High Mountain and the Low Land) and De Vogelwachter kunstenaar op Rottum (The Bird-Watch Artist on Rottum). Furthermore he contributed to many radio and television broadcasts.
