Erik van Ommen (birds)



Erik van Ommen (43) is visual artist and bird-watcher. He studied at the Academie Beeldende Kunsten ‘Minerva’ in Groningen (1978-1983). Main subjects: free-hand painting and graphics. He makes oil paintings, water colours, etchings and drawings of objects which feature nature, with a strong preference for birds. He also develops and programmes websites and interactive CD Rom’s. Erik works part-time as a graphic designer and desktop publisher. He had exhibitions in countries like Holland, Great-Britain, Sweden, Germany, and the United States; he published many books with paintings and etchings of birds. Some of this book titles are: ‘Texel, De Hoge Berg en het Lage Land’ (‘Texel, The High Mountain and the Low Land’) and ‘De Vogelwachter – kunstenaar op Rottum’ (The Bird-Watch – Artist on Rottum’). Furthermore he contributed to many radio and television broadcasts.
