Niek: has another brea-making workshop for children, this time at the Nakatsura elementary school in southern Hirado.
Lucienne: again presents her polaroid-photo workshop with Dutch hats and decorations for the participators. These participators can take the photographs as a souvenir.
Erik: presents his lecture "Birds in Holland" in the village of Himosashi. Next, together with Lucienne he joins the symposium on city-planning for a group from the Kanagawa university.



Finally, the weather is fine and the sky is blue with a mild wind from the south west!
Lucienne: is photographing the Shinya fishers family. In the afternoon she makes polaroid photographs of the Hirado citizens, who are dressed up with 17th century decorations.
Erik: at 5 o'clock in the morning, accompanied by his host Oseki-san, he goes to a southern mountain to watch birds, together with a group of Japanese bird watchers. They could see a group of Atadaka-hara birds from Korea travelling to the south.
Niek: is free today and goes for a swim in the ocean!
Lucienne: shoots Polaroids at the post office of Tsuyoshi, whereafter she has an opening of her photo exposition of fishers families in Holland.
Erik: travels this morning to the south to do his lecture "Birds in Holland" in Tsuyoshi.

Niek: has a bread workshop outside at the 12xCorner. The results of the workshop are bakes immediately in the second bakery of Kitagawa-san in the neighbouring Emukae.
Lucienne: photographs the Haruno family. In the afternoon she works in the dark room on her photo series.
Erik: does an excursion with school children of the elementary and high schools of Noko in southern Hirado. They visit an inhabited island, where Erik does a drawing lesson. Niek and Saskia join this exciting day.


Lucienne: again is shooting photographs of the Haruno family, this time also on the fishers boat while catching the flying 'ago' fish.
Erik: from the early morning Erik is working outside on a new aquarel.
Niek: is making preparations with baker Ooba-san to make 'oliebollen' for the September 24th festival. Junko is taking care for the translation.


Lucienne: works in the dark room of her host, the photographer Omagari-san and shows her work to Dutch journalist Edmond Rinnooy Kan.

Niek: like usually assisted by daughter Saskia, Niek does an extensive bread workshop for a club of housewives in Hirado with most delicious and creative result.

Niek: is producing intensively and preparing for the weekend, i.e. 'De Liefde bread (Dutch multi-wheat bread), 'mills brown' (Dutch light brown), 'speculaas', muesli-cookies, fruitcake and last but not least 'oliebollen'.


Erik: in the afternoon he presents a slide show on "Birds in Holland" in the city hall of Hirado for a small but most interested audience.
In the evening Erik, Niek, Saskia and Lucienne are invited by Shinozaki-san to visit the Yuukou-ji zen temple for dinner. There the monk Tsuchiya-san presents his tea ceremony and Zen method.
Today as well as tomorrow, there is a huge dance festival in Hirado harbour called Hirado Haiya Fuujin.
Erik: in the morning, with Oseki-san, he is watching birds in Sasebo and Sechibaru and traces some unique species.
Lucienne: in the morning is working in the dark room and at pm she travels to Konoura with Omagari-san.
Niek: has a long day: starting at the Sun Kitagawa bakery and finishing in his outside shop at the dance festival in the harbour, where he is selling his special products like De Liefde bread, cookies and cakes most successfully.



Today, is the second day of the huge dance festival in Hirado harbour called Hirado Haiya Fuujin. Saskia is joining one of the 50 dance groups (from Japan as well as Korea) with great enthusiasm.
Erik: in the morning he does an outside drawing workshop in Tabira, with students of the art-club of the junior high school of Tabira. Like usually, Oseki-san is taking care for the translation.



Niek: has a most busy day at his outside shop at the dance festival. Assisted by a team of people around baker Kitagawa-san, he is selling his bread, cakes and 'oliebollen' with an enormous success!



Niek: is free today and with Saskia and Lucienne he enjoys a ceremony at the shintoïstic shrine of Sakikata Tenmangu.
Lucienne: in the afternoon she travels to Shirahama to make some more photographs.
Erik: in the morning Erik is working in his upstairs 'shodo room'. Next, he is doing a lecture at the Agriculture College in Tabira, followed by a workshop on drawing animals. With Oseki-san he visits the 'insect museum' of Tabira. In the evening Erik has another slide-lecture on "Birds in Holland" at the Japan Healing Science Centre in southern Hirado.

Erik: is painting in the morning as well as in the afternoon at the park surrounding the Hirado castle. He also makes some aquarel of the temple. In the evening, together with Lucienne, he makes a stamp out of stone with his shodo teacher Tateishi-sensei.
Lucienne: in the morning she has the opening of her 'traveling' photo exposition at the Shinwa-bank in Hirado. She also does some final photograph development in the dark room of Omagari-san.

Niek: bezoekt het stadhuis van Hirado om daar samen met Kitagawa-san een geldbedrag te overhandigen aan de loco-burgemeester van Hirado. Dit geld is door de beide bakkers verzameld bij de produktenverkoop op het dansfestival van het afgelopen weekend en zal worden geschonken aan het noodlijdende Japanse eiland Miyake, dat zwaar getroffen is door vulkaanuitbarstingen.
Lucienne:together with host Shinozaki-san, she is preparing for tomorrow's photo exposition of Hirado fishers' families.
Niek: is teaching Ooba-san some of his secret recepies. In the afternoon there is another baking worshop for women. Niek also develops a special recepy for coffee cookies for the restaurant of the Matsura Historisch Museum.

Lucienne: today is the opening of her photo exposition on Hirado fishers families (in Konoura and Shirahama).
Niek: bakes some extra De Liefde bread, which he will present later this day to representatives of Huis Ten Bosch.
Erik: in the early morning, he is painting in the harbour of Hirado. Also, he does some bird-watching in the praks around the village. In the afternoon he travels to Fukuoka to pick up his wife Wilma, who arrives from Holland.



Niek: together with Kitagawa-san, Niek has some shoooting for KTN-televisie.
Today is packing day. At 16:30 there is a bye-bye ceremony for Niek and Saskia. Because of the rain, they cannot leave Hirado by boat, so they depart by car. They first will travel to Fukuoka and catch a plane to Amsterdam (via Osaka and Vienna) tomorrow morning.






Today, the last two participators for 12xHolland are leaving from Schiphol airport, Amsterdam, heading for Hirado. Marjolijn van Roon is a recorder-player and Mariska Hammerstein a children picture book writer.
Erik: today, outside in the harbour of Hirado, Erik has his last drawing workshop for children of the elementary school of the neighbouring island of Takushima. Next he does a workshop for the aquarelclub of Hirado (with Yamashita-san and others, who have been the 12xHolland host for Emeke last August)
